Psychoeducational Testing
As humans we want to succeed, so when a child is not bringing home grades that make him proud it is important to help that child explore what is causing the frustration. If common sense changes are not helping, it may be time for a comprehensive psycho-educational battery. Such a comprehensive assessment can elucidate intellectual strengths and weakness and other complications, which may be keeping a child from understanding how to weave their abilities into their school experience. School is supposed to be a place where children learn not only their "ABC's", but also a love of learning and a sense of pride in themselves.

Not only is the goal of an assessment to help understand a child's learning style, but to help that child understand him or herself so that school can become a place where they feel good about themselves. We come in all shapes and sizes academically and cognitively and the hope is to help a child wring every once out of school as they develop their interests and work ethic. School should be a safe, supportive environment through which our children can explore and gather skills that will support and shape them into the people they aspire to be.

Psychological Assessments
Psychological testing or assessment can be invaluable for unmasking the reasons behind a person's suffering. It is helpful for anyone who has never been diagnosed, as well as providing clarification to someone who may be frustrated with their current diagnosis and treatment regimen. In addition, the assessments can help a clinician regarding the direction of specific therapy or by identifying a current problem that may be unrecognized and undiagnosed.

A comprehensive assessment can elucidate personality structure and coping strategies as well as academic struggles and their underlying causes. Full assessments generally include evaluation of cognitive/intellectual functioning, executive functioning, attention/concentration, motor and perceptual functioning, language, learning, memory, and emotional/personality functioning. Academic functioning or achievement is included when academic performance or learning disabilities are a concern.

All assessments are administered and interpreted with the knowledge that each person brings with them a highly personal and individualized psychosocial history, academic history, developmental history, medical history and physical status, possible psychiatric and treatment history, and possible substance abuse history.

Psycho-educational screenings are also available as well as simple IQ testing for school entrance exams.

Depending on the reason for the referral, an assessment may include:
• Cognitive Functioning (IQ)
• Developmental Assessment
• Review of Previous records
• Clinic interview
• Classroom Observation
• Academic Functioning
• Visual perceptual functioning
• Memory
• Executive Functioning
• Emotional Functioning
